There are many tasks that involve typing text and each of them require a different application. With AceText, you can type, edit and save any text in the same location and use it when you need to. It provides numerous tools, for editing and organizing, filtering capabilities, as well as a clipboard extension.

The installation process can be as simple or complex as you want. When you run the 6.26 MB setup file, you will be presented with a series of options, for selecting the software's components yourself, for an advanced installation or a no-questions-asked installation which, like the name suggests, will install the software right away, without prompting you for anything.

The interface provides all the options you would expect from a text editor. Notes can be organized in different collections. Essentially, collections are tabs, which you may create. They include a text editor, which takes up the largest portion of the interface, as well as options for sorting, moving or shifting notes and others. You may create folders and notes in a tree structure, located on the left side of the window.

Selecting a folder will replace the editing area with a few options for sorting the folder's contents alphabetically, newest to oldest and in other ways. You can also assign a different role, for a selected folder, like an RSS reader or writer. If you opt for an RSS reader, you can set it to refresh your feeds every one, two or three hours or on a daily basis. It is also possible to update all feeds manually and tick an option to purge old entries.

The software's clipboard extension can be very useful. If you copy a text fragment, AceText will paste it automatically on its interface, in the Clipboard section. Any changes you make, in this section, will reflect on the actual Windows Clipboard. You can type a new text fragment here and paste right away, in other text applications, without copying anything. A clipboard history can be found on a different tab. It has the same layout as the collections and you can edit any item. It is also possible to label saved clips, so you can find them easier. This can be useful for repetitive messages or other text items. Just copy a repetitive message, label the clip or send it to a collection and you will find it immediately, when you need to send the message.

Pros

You can organize notes and other text items in different collections. The software makes it very easy to locate specific notes, due to its searching and filtering capabilities. What's more, AceText enhances the Windows Clipboard, making it possible to edit its contents and clipboard history.

Cons

The buttons, on the program's toolbar, are a bit small and you have to rely on tool tips to figure out what they do. With AceText's smart capabilities, anything you type, from messages to code, can be saved and organized in a simple and comfortable manner.
